March Learning and Creative Celebrations at P.S. 59

Updated: Jun 15

March was filled with exciting opportunities for students to learn, create, and celebrate through a variety of themed activities and spirit days. From honoring influential women throughout history to exploring literacy through beloved stories and celebrating St. Patrick’s Day traditions, students enjoyed a month full of engaging experiences that combined fun with learning.

The month began with a special Women's History Month Spirit Day where students wore purple to recognize the achievements, contributions, and impact of women throughout history. The spirit day provided an opportunity for students to reflect on the importance of leadership and celebrate the many women who have helped shape the world.

Students also celebrated the birthday of the well-known author, Dr. Seuss, with a day dedicated to literacy and imagination. Students were invited to wear blue and red and participated in a variety of themed games, arts and crafts projects, and literacy activities inspired by Dr. Seuss's beloved books. A highlight of the celebration was a special STEM activity centered around Sam-I-Am, the protagonist from Green Eggs and Ham

Moreover, students showed their holiday spirit by wearing green during the St. Patrick’s Day Spirit Day celebration. The festivities continued with a special St. Patrick’s Day Snack Party, where families generously provided a variety of green-colored treats for students to enjoy. Throughout the celebration, students participated in themed arts and crafts, literacy activities, and STEM challenges. One of the day's favorite activities was designing and building leprechaun traps! To conclude the festivities, students enjoyed delicious fizzy ice cream floats.
